Foxes In Fiction

We got sent a very lovely album entitled Swung From The Branches from Warren Hilderbrand, aka Foxes In Fiction of Toronto, of whom we made a post about back in our afro days. Vaguely split into an A and B side, the first half explores ambient synth sketches of a contemplative nature, reveling in the minimal, unmediated yet evocative beauty of chords and harmony and their tidal movement over time, while the second half is dedicated to gentle, under-stated pop reconstructions of a rather lethargic nature, as exemplified in this graceful tune, which I can swear pinches the drum loop from a song by fellow Torontians Actual Water.

Why, it’s becoming more and more irrefutable that such is the life and art of forward-thinking young people in the G8 countries of our times - dream-like, hazy and unimposing, laureling in the PC haven of serotonin-balanced Wonderland, changing the world one “good morning” at a time. A ruthless army of romantic daydreamers. Jesus, why couldn’t have people in the 70’s realized that the key to change is being so chilled out? It would have saved them a good many cracked skulls. Oh right, there was conscription back in the day. Anyway, drollery aside, you would be a fool not to head over to Foxes of Fictions blog and give the album a good solid download.
