Splash Wave

Someone maliciously slipped some alcohol into my drink on New York Eve and I got drunk. At some point I got involved in exchanging haikus with someone I met that night, and I stumbled upon these on the floor today. I’ve never written a haiku before, and needed to be explained the rules. She said that the rigid structure is in fact liberating but for me it just made the sentences feel awkward and truncated, and my haikus are very bad. We each did one in three topics. I’m A and the other person is B.

Medicine

A -

I’ve known duplicates

And they have but one purpose:

To take care of me

B -

A cats purr they say

Laughter’s the best medicine

We’re all triumphant!

Laces

A -

There are many names

For a shoe that’s reddening

Gagged by its one lace

B -

Constricting the flow

Constrained by factors unknown

Breathing in & on

Touch

A -

Trees when rustling

Against each others spine

Like people they pine

B -

Sometimes you don’t see

Yet your foot (can’t understand handwriting) my (can’t understand handwriting)

Then I come clean
