Canadians Friendo capture so gracefully that hazy, other-worldly quasi-spiritual tone that made me so obsessed with Panda Bear’s Young Prayer at the time, elevated here by the contrast with the sparse rhythm section that reminds me somewhat of Slint in its foreboding guitar tones. They feature on the excellent UK compilation Oh Canada! (a brilliant song in itself which I used to need to sing in school everyday, followed by the principles ‘joke of the daily’ broadcast over the speaker system and always hilarious), which you can download here free of charge, and which features fellow Canadian greats such as Puberty, Babe Rainbow, Basketball and No Gold. I shall refrain from any more legal mumbo-jumbo and let this beautiful song speak for itself.
