Shrieks
Nicely brittle and lightly overcast demo from Brighton’s Shrieks, bringing to mind perhaps the Strokes a few years back if they were to practice in a room in a sea-side English town during a power outage, or just a bunch of guys practicing who aren’t even fans of The Stokes but have heard them once in passing, collectively coming out of a bar, or a bright afternoon cruise down a Gothenburg canal, or a hypothetical Michael Mann directed Civil War-themed period epic rumored for 2013? Or perhaps that glowing feeling of being notified on the phone that there was an error with your income tax calculation and your actually entitled to a refund? Or the feeling of that, a second after you’ve been notified that a loved one has just deceased? Maybe the ambiguous facial expression of a mouse after taking a swipe at a booby-trapped hunk of cheese, then realizing he’s captured, then realizing the cheese is actually a yellow sponge, presuming the mouse is in this predicament for the first time? Or perhaps the expression of another mouse in the same exact situation but who has been in a similar situation before and had somehow managed to escape? All depending on your disposition as everyone takes something different from the music and so we will no be as presumptuous as to assume :)
