Leafing through the morning paper sitting reclined next to a flat white and a pain aux raisins, it is populated with the mundane mixture of knife crime, troop movements in far away countries, work discrimination and idle international chitter-chatter. Yawn. Outside the cafe’ window the weather is a depressing combination of dreary rain and unnatural humidity. The day  feels lethargic already though it hasn’t even properly begun. For a moment I consider whether I should just be done with it all and kill myself this afternoon. But hold up! What is this? An article about a fat women who put a cat in the garbage. Unusual. You know what, downright maddening! Apparently the felony was captured on camera, giving rise to a public outrage of unprecedented proportions, bringing in its midst a flurry of Facebook hate groups and death threats. Damn straight! Apparently there is now police protection surrounding the fat woman to protect her from harm, there is talk of a relocation and a new identity.  And why should there be? Did the cat enjoy the luxury of a police escort, free of charge? Of course it didn’t, because if it did then the damn crime wouldn’t have been possible in the first place! But what is this, the article also quotes some groups from the opposite end as saying the cat should have been beheaded, never mind put in the bin. How awful it all is! This wretched women has upset me and destroyed my breakfast.
